Electropop Artists

Developed in the 1980s, electropop gave synth-pop a harder electronic edge, bringing pop songwriting into a more programmed, synthetic sound. Its tracks commonly pair direct vocal hooks and compact song structures with prominent synthesizers, electronic drums and polished dance production.

The style sits between pop and electronic music rather than abandoning either: melody, chorus and vocal personality remain central, while the production often carries as much weight as the singer. A revival in the late 2000s brought electropop back into wider use, and current artists including Ava Max and Kim Petras work with its combination of sharp digital textures and hook-led pop.

Electropop is often confused with electro, sometimes called electro-pop, but the two aren't interchangeable. Electro draws more directly from funk and early hip-hop, whereas electropop is geared toward pop form and an electronically driven finish. Compared with broader dance-pop, it generally puts synthesizer-led production closer to the front of the mix.
