September 2026

Features

  • Artist and label profiles now open with the latest release - cover art, whether it's an album or a single, and when it landed - so you can tell at a glance if someone has been busy.
  • New post on the blog: Beatport vs Traxsource vs BPM Supreme, on what each one actually gets you.

Improvements

  • Genre pages now list far more artists. The bigger genres were only showing a fraction of what they hold, and the counts in search results were stale on top of that.
  • The artist and label strips on the new music pages show how many releases each one put out, and rank on releases and follows together, so a distributor pushing out hundreds of tracks no longer buries a label people actually follow.
  • Profile and genre pages load faster, including the first visit after an update.
  • Your profile picture stays put instead of quietly breaking after a while.
  • Clearer messages when connecting Apple Music goes wrong, and if part of a page fails to download you now get a reload button instead of a raw error code.
  • If one of your connected services fails while syncing listening history, the other one's data stays intact instead of getting wiped.

Fixes

  • Fixed old tracks not being cleared out of playlists for accounts that needed to sign in again. Those accounts were also getting the same "sign in again" email more than once, which is fixed too.
  • Fixed Apple Music playlist updates stalling on tracks that matched a release already on file.

June 2026

Improvements

  • Background updates that hit a snag now wait longer and try more times before giving up, so fewer follows and playlist updates need a second nudge.
  • Rewrote page and article titles across the site so they read better in search results.

May 2026

Features

  • New music pages. This week and this month show every new release from the artists and labels Tracknack tracks, newest first and refreshed about every hour. No algorithm, no editor picks. Both pages also show who shipped the most, which labels are busiest, and which genres are moving.
  • The Apple Music import now reads your library directly, so it finds artists Tracknack hadn't come across yet instead of only the ones it already knew.
  • New post on the blog: why new music drops on Friday.

Improvements

  • Importing a big Apple Music library is much faster. Artists get followed in batches now instead of one at a time.
  • If your Apple Music connection expires mid-import, you get a reconnect button instead of an empty list.
  • Various Artists compilations and a handful of spam labels are filtered out of the new music feeds.

Fixes

  • Fixed the site failing to load in browsers set to block site data. The cookie banner was throwing an error before anything else got a chance to render.

April 2026

Features

  • Apple Music support is here. You can now connect your Apple Music account alongside Spotify — follow artists and labels across both platforms.
  • Redesigned the landing page to show release highlights — a quick look at what's new from artists you might want to follow.
  • Genre pages. Browse artists by genre, see which labels and producers are behind the sound, and check what's come out recently in each one.

Improvements

  • Smoother re-authentication flow when your streaming service connection needs refreshing.
  • The homepage now features popular artists and labels, so there's somewhere obvious to start if you're new and not sure who to follow.
  • Playlists update faster again, especially for people following a lot of artists and labels.
  • You now get an email if a payment fails, instead of finding out when your playlist quietly stops updating.

Fixes

  • Fixed playlists showing nothing when you first opened them.
  • Fixed a few ways onboarding could get stuck partway through.
  • Unsubscribe links now work even after an account has been deleted.

Improvements

  • Artist and label profiles are richer now — bios, related artists, and more detailed information pulled in automatically.
  • Profile pages load faster again. Did another round of performance work on both the frontend and backend.
  • Search results are more accurate and relevant.

Fixes

  • Fixed images not showing up on some follow pages.

  • Major frontend upgrade under the hood. Pages load faster, routing is cleaner, and artist/label profiles render more reliably.
  • Launched the Tracknack blog — posts on music discovery, credit tracking, and label deep dives.

Improvements

  • Playlists update faster and more reliably now. Did a lot of work behind the scenes to speed up how tracks get fetched and added.
  • Release linking is more resilient — if something fails mid-batch, it keeps going instead of stalling out.
  • Artist and label profile pages load noticeably faster.
  • Various SEO improvements across the site, including cleaner URLs and better descriptions on profile pages.
