The name “Nervous” is linked to New York’s hip hop community. According to the label’s origin story, hip hop DJ Chuck Chillout gave Mike Weiss the nickname “Captain Nervous,” a reference to his high-strung, energetic demeanor, and the label took its name from that moniker.
