Alan Walker

“Faded” turned Alan Walker from a Bergen bedroom producer into an international electronic music name. Released in December 2015 as a vocal reworking of his earlier track “Fade,” the single reached number 80 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned triple-platinum certification from the RIAA. It also became one of several Walker singles to reach number one on Norway’s VG-lista chart, alongside “Sing Me to Sleep,” “Alone,” “All Falls Down,” “Ignite” and “Darkside.”

Born on 24 August 1997, Walker grew up in Fana, Bergen, and began making music around 2012. He learned production independently, sharing early work through YouTube and SoundCloud while taking feedback from listeners online. Before signing a record deal, he worked under the name DJ Walkzz and released “Fade” through NoCopyrightSounds at age 17. His records center on house-rooted electronic production, with large-scale melodic arrangements that have also crossed into pop and dance music.

Walker followed “Faded” with “Sing Me to Sleep” and “Alone” in 2016. In 2017, “All Falls Down” reached number one on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. His 2018 singles “Darkside” and “Ignite” preceded his debut album, Different World, which topped the album charts in Norway and Finland and reached the top 20 in Sweden and Switzerland.

His second album, World of Walker, arrived in 2021 and included “On My Way” and “Alone, Pt. II,” both top-five hits on Norway’s VG-lista. Walker released Walkerverse Pt. I & II in 2022 and supported it with Walkerverse: The Tour, which began that September. The following releases included Walkerworld in 2023 and Walkerworld 2.0 in 2025. Later that year, he collaborated with Steve Aoki on Quantum Beats.

Walker is also recognized for appearing in a hoodie and mask, maintaining a deliberately inconspicuous public image. His awards include three MTV Europe Music Awards, three Electronic Dance Music Awards, two Spellemannprisen awards and an NRJ Music Awards Norge prize. He has received nominations for a Billboard Music Award and a Brit Award, as well as two nominations each for the Echo Music Prize and Berlin Music Video Awards. Billboard placed him at number 13 on its 2017 21 Under 21 list, DJ Mag ranked him number 11 in its 2023 Top 100 DJs poll, and Forbes included him on its 2025 30 Under 30 Europe list.
