Ava Max
Combining powerhouse vocals with catchy and impactful songwriting, Ava Max emerged as a pop hit-maker at the start of the 2020s. Born Amanda Ava Koci on February 16, 1994, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Albanian immigrants, Max began her music career in 2017 with her feature on “Clap Your Hands”.
As part of a wave of successful pop singers from the Balkans (including Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, and Rita Ora), Ava Max’s themes of female empowerment, electropop style, and unique fashion drew comparisons to pop icon Lady Gaga. She soon achieved her breakout hit with “Sweet but Psycho”, topping charts globally and reaching number ten on the Billboard Hot 100.
Max continued the success of “Sweet but Psycho” with two more Hot 100 hits — “Kings & Queens” and “My Head & My Heart” — before releasing her debut album, Heaven & Hell. The album debuted and peaked at #27 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, later selling a million units and earning Platinum certification from the RIAA.
In 2022, Max scored another hit with “The Motto”, a collaboration with Dutch DJ and producer Tiësto. Her second album, Diamonds & Dancefloors, is expected for release in 2023.
To date, Ava Max has certified single sales of 12.5 million in the United States alone.
