Martin Garrix

Martin Garrix broke through internationally with “Animals” and went on to become one of electronic music’s most prominent festival DJs. Born Martijn Gerard Garritsen on 14 May 1996 in Amstelveen, Netherlands, he works as a DJ, remixer and producer, also using the names Ytram and GRX. His best-known singles include “Animals,” “In the Name of Love,” and “Scared to Be Lonely.”

Garrix’s rise was closely tied to major dance-music events. In 2014, at age 17, he became the youngest DJ to headline Ultra Music Festival and also headlined the first Ultra South Africa. His festival appearances have included Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Ultra Music Festival. He later held Ibiza residencies at Ushuaïa in 2016 and 2018, and at Hï Ibiza in 2017.

After leaving Spinnin’ Records, Garrix founded the label Stmpd Rcrds in 2016. The launch came before he signed with Sony Music, giving his releases and collaborations a label platform of his own. His music spans electronic dance styles including house, progressive house, electro house and pop-oriented dance records.

DJ Mag ranked Garrix number one in its Top 100 DJs poll in 2016, 2017 and 2018, then again in 2022 and 2024. Across his work as Martin Garrix, Ytram and GRX, he has remained closely associated with large-scale dance records and headline festival performance.
