Ed Sheeran is a British singer-songwriter from Halifax, England, who was raised in Suffolk. He's recognized for his dynamic live performances, often incorporating a loop pedal and occasional raps.

Ed's journey to success began with him playing in older people's homes, later gaining attention from a record producer while busking in the USA. He performed almost a thousand gigs and street shows before gaining significant recognition. Early independent projects like Loose Change and Songs I Wrote with Amy were produced with longtime collaborator Jake Gosling, marking the beginning of their successful partnership. Soon, Ed built numerous connections within the industry.

In January 2011, he collaborated with UK grime artists like Wiley, Ghetts, and Jme for the No. 5 Collaborations Project, which reached number 46 on the UK Singles Chart. A fan favorite, "Little Lady" (feat. Mikill Pane), evolved into a more radio-friendly solo version, "The A Team," which achieved over a million sales in the UK and two million in the US.

Signed by Asylum/Atlantic Records, Sheeran released the single “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” before launching his debut album + in September 2011, which received great critical acclaim. It topped the UK Albums Chart, selling nearly two million copies in the UK.

Following numerous successful singles and collaborations, including an EP with Yelawolf, Ed achieved his first UK #1 with “Sing,” produced by Pharrell Williams. His seven-times platinum sophomore album x spawned hits like “Don’t,” “Thinking Out Loud,” and “Bloodstream.”

After taking a year off from social media, Sheeran announced his return on New Year’s Day 2017. His third album, ÷, released in March, included hits “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You.”

In 2017, Sheeran became the most streamed artist on Spotify with 47 million monthly listeners. His album ÷ was the year's most streamed album globally with 3.1 billion streams, and “Shape of You” became the most streamed song ever with over 1.4 billion streams.

Sheeran toured mainly in 2018 and early 2019 but also worked on his next album, released in July 2019 as No.6 Collaborations Project.

Announcing another break in December 2019, Sheeran returned in September 2020, revealing he and Cherry were expecting their first child, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. He released “Afterglow” in December 2020, clarifying it wasn’t the lead single of a new album, just a song he loves.

In June 2021, Sheeran released “Bad Habits,” the lead single for his fifth album, = (Equals). In August 2021, he announced the album's release for October 29, 2021, with the promotional single “Visiting Hours,” dedicated to a close friend who passed away earlier in the year. Another single, “Shivers,” followed in September. Along with the album’s release, “Overpass Graffiti” was also launched. In December, he collaborated with Elton John on a Christmas special song, “Merry Christmas,” featured in the Christmas edition of = (Equals).

In May 2022, Sheeran released a repackaged edition of = (Equals) with 10 additional tracks, including Penguins and One Life from the 2019 film Yesterday, as well as I Will Remember You and Welcome To The World.

On March 1, 2023, he announced his 6th studio album, “- (Subtract),” set to release on May 5, 2023. On March 24, 2023, he released "Eyes Closed," the lead single from Subtract, followed by "Boat" on April 21, 2023. The album Subtract was released as a visual album featuring 14 music videos on May 5, 2023.
