Róisín Marie Murphy, born 5 July 1973 in Arklow, Ireland, is an Irish singer, songwriter and record producer whose work has moved through electronic, dance, pop and trip hop forms. She first became known in the 1990s as one half of Moloko, the pop duo she formed with English musician Mark Brydon. The group gave Murphy a public platform before she began recording under her own name.

After Moloko broke up, Murphy launched her solo career with Ruby Blue in 2005. She wrote and produced the album with experimental musician Matthew Herbert, and it received critical praise. Her second solo album, Overpowered, followed in 2007. The record placed her voice and songwriting in a more overtly electronic and dance-pop setting while extending the solo catalogue she had begun with Herbert.

Murphy's next full-length release arrived in 2015, following an eight-year hiatus from albums that included non-album singles, side projects and guest appearances on other artists' records. Her third solo album, Hairless Toys, was nominated for both the Mercury Music Prize and Ireland's Choice Music Prize. She released its follow-up, Take Her Up to Monto, the following year.

In 2018, Murphy worked with producer Maurice Fulton on four 12-inch singles. She later released her fifth solo album, Róisín Machine, in 2020, followed by Hit Parade in 2023. Both albums received critical acclaim. Across her work with Moloko and her solo recordings, Murphy has maintained a career rooted in songwriting, production and electronic pop.
