
Oh Wonder
Oh Wonder is a London-based writing duo made up of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht.
The pair initially emerged under the name “Wonder Wonder,” which they changed after uploading two songs on their Soundcloud page. A band with a similar name suggested they alter it, but they wanted to retain their favorite word “wonder” in their stage name.
Josephine and Anthony met in 2011. Their partnership felt natural—Josephine was then focused on a solo project while Anthony was involved with the alternative rock band Futures. Their songwriting began soon after, and for years, they wrote songs for fun. During a trip to Amsterdam, they developed the idea for their collaborative project, inspired by James Blake and Sigur Rós.
According to Anthony, they have been working closely since then:
"We're really in tune with each other because we've been working together for so long."
In September 2014, they initiated releasing one song on the first of each month, which continued for a whole year. Josephine mentioned in an interview with VICE:
