Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell, professionally known as Billie Eilish, was born on December 18, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, and is an American singer and songwriter.

Collaborating with her older brother Finneas, who co-writes and produces her work, she has captivated the internet with her haunting vocals, eerily beautiful lyrics, and genre-defying production.

Initially, music wasn't Billie's main focus—dancing was. Growing up in Los Angeles in a family of musicians and actors, she was drawn to the art of dance. However, after a growth plate injury in 2015 left her unable to continue dancing, Billie became an underground pop sensation.

Billie's foray into singing and songwriting wasn't unfamiliar territory; she wrote her first song at age four and joined the Los Angeles Children’s Choir at eight. When tasked by her dance instructor with finding a song to choreograph, Billie and Finneas created "ocean eyes," uploading it to SoundCloud—where it went viral with over two million streams and led to a record deal with Interscope.

This success led to several remixes and a follow-up single, "Six Feet Under," which was released the following year.

In 2017, Billie released her debut EP, dont smile at me, garnering mainstream acclaim and securing her a spot on Apple Music’s UpNext showcase for emerging artists. The EP also reached the top 40 on the Billboard 200 on July 19th.

On March 29th, 2019, Billie Eilish released her debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, revolving around her intrigue with dreams and nightmares. Two weeks before its release, it became the most pre-saved album of all time on Apple Music, boasting over 800,000 pre-saves.

In 2020, Billie was nominated for six Grammy Awards, alongside her brother Finneas. Nominations included the five main categories: "Album of the Year," "Best New Artist," "Best Pop Solo Performance," "Song of the Year," and "Record of the Year," as well as "Best Pop Vocal Album." Finneas was nominated for "Producer of the Year – non classical" and won, while Billie won five Grammys at the 62nd ceremony.

In 2021, Billie and Finneas also triumphed at the 63rd Grammy Awards, winning for "Best Song Written for a Visual Media" with "No Time To Die," and "Record of the Year" for "everything i wanted," released in 2019.

On April 26, 2021, Billie Eilish teased the album’s title track, Happier Than Ever. Billboards soon revealed the album’s title and the release date of July 30, 2021, and an Instagram post on April 27 disclosed the album’s cover art and announced a new single coming on April 29, 2021. Billie surpassed her own pre-save record, achieving 1,028,000 pre-saves for Happier Than Ever.

On March 22, 2022, Billie and Finneas won the Oscar for Best Original Song with "No Time to Die," marking their first nomination and win for the brother-sister duo. This victory was record-breaking, making Billie the youngest artist to achieve three awards for the same song.
