Billie Eilish became the second artist, and the only woman, in Grammy history to win all four general-field awards in a single ceremony: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell in Los Angeles on December 18, 2001, she has become a major figure in 2020s pop, known for a distinctive vocal approach and productions built with harmony lines, vocal layering and double tracking.

Eilish first drew public attention in 2015 with “Ocean Eyes,” written and produced by her brother and regular collaborator Finneas O'Connell. Her 2017 debut EP, Don't Smile at Me, found commercial success in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. Its follow-up, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, arrived in 2019 and debuted at number one on both the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. It was among that year's best-selling albums, while “Bad Guy” made Eilish the first artist born in the 21st century to top the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also certified Diamond by the RIAA.

Her second studio album, Happier Than Ever (2021), likewise opened atop the Billboard 200. It produced four US top-ten singles: “My Future,” “Therefore I Am,” “Happier Than Ever” and “Your Power.” Eilish and Finneas co-wrote “No Time to Die” for the James Bond film of the same name, earning the pair an Academy Award for Best Original Song. She later won a second Oscar in the category for “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie (2023).

Eilish released her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, in 2024. Its single “Birds of a Feather” reached number one on the Billboard Global 200. Across her career, her awards include two Academy Awards, ten Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, twenty Guinness World Records, eight MTV Video Music Awards, four Brit Awards and two Golden Globes. She was the first person born in the 21st century to win both a Grammy and an Academy Award, as well as the youngest two-time Academy Award winner. Outside music, she has supported political causes involving climate-change awareness, women's reproductive rights and gender equality.
