Bassvictim

Bassvictim are a London electronic duo: Polish-English vocalist Maria Manow and American producer Ike Clateman. They met in Berlin in 2022, ran into each other again outside a London party four months later, and took the band name from that night, when Clateman found the bass “too intense.”

Their abrasive mix of drum’n’bass, electroclash and punk came through on the Basspunk mixtapes in 2024 and 2025. Debut album Forever followed on 10 October 2025, and Pitchfork ranked it No. 49 on its list of the year’s best albums.

Second album Peace + War came out on 6 November 2026 on their own VOTB imprint. It runs to 19 tracks, including “Jagódki (Blueberries)”, “White Flag” and “Babcia Jadzia”, a seven-minute song Manow sings in Polish for her grandmother. They spent the weeks before release on a North American headline tour that ended in New York on Halloween, with European dates including Paris and London to follow.
