Domino Recording Co
Domino Recording Company, commonly known as Domino, is a British independent record label whose work spans guitar-driven bands, experimental pop, and electronic music. Its roster has included artists such as Animal Collective and Panda Bear, alongside producers and songwriters like Daniel Avery, Joe Goddard, and Ela Minus, reflecting a catalogue that moves between club-oriented releases and more exploratory forms of contemporary pop and rock. The label has also released music by groups including Fat White Family, Fat Dog, and Sorry.
Domino is based in London and operates internationally through several divisions. A Brooklyn, New York wing handles releases in the United States, and the company also maintains Domino Deutschland in Germany and Domino France in France. This structure supports the label’s presence across key markets while remaining identified as an independent British imprint.
Beyond its main label activity, Domino has been connected to the subsidiary Geographic Music, overseen by Stephen Pastel. Geographic Music is described as a home for more “unusual” music, including releases from Britain and from outside of the Western world, extending Domino’s reach into less conventional and more globally oriented projects.
In 2011, Domino announced the launch of a book publishing division, The Domino Press. The move signaled an expansion of the company’s activities beyond recorded music into publishing, complementing its label operations and related imprints.
