Hot Chip is an English synth-pop band formed in London in 2000. Working at the intersection of synth-pop and alternative dance, the group’s music draws on house and disco alongside a broader palette that has been associated with styles such as electronica, indie rock, indietronica, dance rock, neo-synthpop, and new rave.

The band’s core lineup consists of multi-instrumentalists Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Al Doyle, Owen Clarke, and Felix Martin. Rob Smoughton, a former member, has continued to appear with the group on occasion, joining for live performances and some studio work. Hot Chip’s recordings typically reflect a collaborative approach in which members contribute across instruments, vocals, and production.

Hot Chip have released a run of studio albums that includes Coming on Strong, The Warning, Made in the Dark, One Life Stand, In Our Heads, Why Make Sense?, and A Bath Full of Ecstasy. Their releases have been associated with Domino Recording Co.
