Jon Hopkins
Jon Hopkins is an English electronic musician and producer whose work has moved between club-focused electronics, ambient music, contemporary composition and film scoring. Born Jonathan Julian Hopkins in London on 15 August 1979, he began his career as a keyboard player for Imogen Heap before expanding into production and collaborative work.
Hopkins has produced and contributed to recordings by Brian Eno, Coldplay and David Holmes. His work with Eno and Leo Abrahams on Small Craft on a Milk Sea, and with King Creosote on Diamond Mine, brought two collaborative albums onto the UK Albums Chart, where each reached No. 82. Diamond Mine was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2011.
His solo catalogue includes Insides, his third studio album, which reached No. 15 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart in 2009. The 2013 album Immunity also received a Mercury Prize nomination. Hopkins composed the score for the 2010 film Monsters, earning an Ivor Novello Award nomination for Best Original Score.
In December 2018, Hopkins received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Singularity, his fifth studio record. His sixth studio album, Music for Psychedelic Therapy, followed on 12 November 2021.
