Empire of the Sun
Empire of the Sun is an Australian electronic music duo renowned for their 2008 hit single “Walking on a Dream”. They are also famous for their dreamy, '80s synth-influenced sound and extravagant stage shows. Their style incorporates elements from both modern and ancient empires, such as Peking Opera–style garments to Incan headpieces.
The duo consists of Nick Littlemore, the frontman of the electronic duo PNAU, and Luke Steele, the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Sleepy Jackson.
The two began collaborating in 2007 and gained significant attention with their debut album, Walking on a Dream.
For their sophomore album, Ice on the Dune, Littlemore and Steele took on the personas of “The Lord” and “The Emperor”, respectively, embarking on “a post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure”.
