LANY

LANY, named for “Los Angeles, New York,” formed in Nashville in 2014 and developed into a Los Angeles-based pop rock band. The group is now made up of guitarist and lead vocalist Paul Klein and drummer Jake Goss. Its early lineup also included keyboardist Les Priest, who left in 2022 to focus on writing and producing in Nashville; Klein and Goss chose to continue as a duo.

The band first shared music anonymously online in 2014, beginning with two tracks and later releasing the three-song EP Acronyms, which included “ILYSB.” After further singles, LANY revealed its identity and signed with Polydor Records in 2015. That year brought the I Loved You. and Make Out EPs, while touring slots with Halsey and X Ambassadors introduced the group to wider U.S. audiences. In 2016, LANY released “WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS” and the six-track EP kinda, then toured with Oh Wonder before mounting its first headline run.

LANY released its self-titled debut album in 2017 through Polydor and Interscope Records, following it with Malibu Nights in 2018, Mama’s Boy in 2020, and gg bb xx in 2021. The band also toured internationally, supported John Mayer, and issued deluxe editions of both Mama’s Boy and gg bb xx. Among its best-known singles are the RIAA-certified “ILYSB,” “Super Far,” and “Malibu Nights,” along with “Okay,” a 2019 collaboration with Julia Michaels, and “Mean It,” recorded with Lauv that same year.

In September 2023, LANY released its fifth studio album, A Beautiful Blur. It was the band’s first release on its own imprint, Sunset Records, and was distributed by Virgin Music Group after its departure from Polydor and Interscope. On July 30, 2025, LANY announced its sixth studio album, Soft, which arrived on October 10, 2025.
