RCA Records Label

RCA Records traces its corporate lineage to the Victor Talking Machine Company, tying one of Sony Music Entertainment's flagship labels to the earliest commercial record business. Its name comes from the Radio Corporation of America, the former parent company whose initials remain on the label.

Now owned by Sony Music Entertainment, RCA operates from an American base while working across a broad musical field: pop, rock, hip hop, R&B, electronic music, classical, jazz, blues, country and afrobeat. Its roster history and current releases reflect that range, from the alternative rock of Foo Fighters and the heavy sound of Bring Me The Horizon to pop artists including Tate McRae, JADE and Myles Smith. Ari Abdul also represents the label's connection to contemporary pop and alternative-leaning releases.

RCA's modern ownership took shape after General Electric bought the RCA Corporation in 1986 and sold its remaining interest in RCA Records to Bertelsmann the following year. The label became part of Bertelsmann Music Group, then entered Sony BMG Music Entertainment through the 2004 BMG-Sony merger. When Sony BMG was dissolved and Sony Music restructured in 2008, RCA became fully owned by Sony.

Alongside Columbia Records, once RCA's longtime rival, RCA remains one of Sony Music's principal labels. Its identity rests on a long corporate history and a catalogue that moves freely between mainstream pop, guitar music, rap, dance-oriented records and established roots genres.
