About Microhouse
Microhouse draws on the stripped-back methods of 1990s techno, reducing house music to tight rhythms, sparse percussion and finely placed electronic details. Also called buftech or simply minimal, it emerged as a house subgenre shaped by minimalism rather than the fuller arrangements associated with deep house or more direct techno. Its appeal lies in economy: small changes in texture, groove and repetition do much of the work.
