Marcel Dettmann
Marcel Dettmann has been a resident DJ at Berlin's Berghain, a role central to his work as a techno selector and producer. Born on 26 October 1977 in Pößneck, Thuringia, he began DJing in 1994 and has built a career around club-focused sets, production, and label work.
Dettmann worked at Berlin record store Hard Wax from 2002 to 2012, placing him within the city's long-running electronic-music infrastructure as both a DJ and record buyer. Alongside his Berghain residency, he has toured as a DJ at clubs and electronic music festivals across Europe.
As a producer, Dettmann has worked across techno, minimal techno, dub techno, minimal, and microhouse. His releases and remixes have appeared through labels including !K7 Records, Running Back, Cocoon Recordings, Fabric Records, and Repetitive Rhythm Research. He also runs MDR, short for Marcel Dettmann Records, and Bad Manners Records.
