Marcel Dettmann

Marcel Dettmann is a German DJ, producer, and record label owner closely associated with Berlin’s Berghain nightclub, where he is a resident DJ. He is also known under a range of aliases, including Dettman, MD, Marcell Dettmann, Act, and My Own Shadow.

Dettmann’s background includes a decade-long period working at the Berlin record store Hard Wax, a well-known hub for electronic music and DJ culture. According to Wikipedia, he worked at Hard Wax from 2002 to 2012, a role that placed him in regular contact with new releases and the day-to-day practices of DJs and producers. Alongside his DJ work, he has been active as a producer and has released music associated with techno, minimal techno, and microhouse.

In addition to performing and producing, Dettmann is described as a record label owner. His recorded output has appeared on labels including !K7 Records, Running Back, Break New Soil Rec, Repetitive Rhythm Research, and True Panther Records. He has also been credited for remix work.
