Gui Boratto
Gui Boratto's debut solo album, Chromophobia, was named album of the month by Mixmag, introducing the Brazilian producer's work to a wider electronic audience. Born Guilherme Augusto de Lima Boratto in 1974, he is from São Paulo and works across minimal techno, techno, house and related electronic styles.
Before his solo career, Boratto was a member of the Eurodance group Sect during the 1990s. After Chromophobia, he released six further full-length albums alongside numerous EPs and singles. His releases have included work with Kompakt and Systematic Recordings.
Boratto also runs D.O.C., a record label distributed by Kompakt. The first act signed to the label was the Brazilian electronic duo Elekfantz. In live performance, he uses an Ableton Live-equipped laptop alongside controllers including the JazzMutant Lemur, monome and Akai Professional APC40, and sometimes brings guest guitarists into the set.
