Maya Jane Coles
Maya Jane Coles is a British producer, audio engineer and DJ whose work moves between house and techno under her own name and darker, bass-driven material as Nocturnal Sunshine. Born in London in 1988, she has also used names including CAYAM and MJC.
Coles' productions as Maya Jane Coles focus chiefly on house and techno. As Nocturnal Sunshine, she works with a heavier hip-hop and dub influence, taking the project into more shadowed, bass-led territory. The contrast between the two outlets has allowed her to present distinct sides of her electronic work without treating them as the same project.
She was also previously one half of She Is Danger, an electronic dub duo with Lena Cullen. Alongside her production work, Coles has worked as an audio engineer and built a career as a DJ.
