Isolée is a minimalist house producer whose music echoes the indie electronic pop sounds of the early 1980s and the ambient techno of the following decade. Isolée is recognized for creating the first microhouse record to climb the club charts. The 2000 release "Rest" by Isolée is considered the pioneering full-length microhouse album.

Rajko Müller was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and lived in Algeria from ages 7 to 12, attending a French primary school. During this period, his parents gifted him an organ for Christmas, and he attempted synth-pop with a school friend. They then decided to buy a synthesizer and a drum machine. Müller grew weary of synth-pop and EBM by the late 1980s and leaned more towards rock and independent music. In the early 1990s, Müller's friends introduced him to house music, hip-hop, and techno, prompting him to revisit electronic music production. He gave a tape to his friend and DJ Andreas Baumecker, owner of Freundinnen records, who worked at a record store frequented by the Playhouse Records crew, launching his career.
