FaltyDL

Drew Cyrus Lustman, known as FaltyDL, is an American electronic musician and record producer born in New Haven, Connecticut, and based in New York. Working across UK-rooted club music, IDM, dubstep, garage, footwork and more left-field electronic forms, he has also used aliases including Donna Chambray Loren, Tenant, Sven Liebeck and Shanghai Den.

Lustman signed with Planet Mu in November 2008, beginning a run of full-length releases with Love Is a Liability in 2009 and You Stand Uncertain in 2011. In January 2011 he joined London label Ninja Tune, which released Atlantis later that year and the 2012 single “Straight & Arrow,” accompanied by a remix from Four Tet. His 2013 album Hardcourage was jointly released by Ninja Tune and Blueberry Records, Lustman’s own label. Blueberry Records takes its name from the blueberry hill owned by his grandmother.

Ninja Tune also issued FaltyDL’s 2014 album In the Wild. In 2015, Lustman released The Crystal Cowboy under his own name through Planet Mu, and Heaven Is for Quitters followed through Blueberry Records in 2016. The EP If All the People Took Acid arrived in January 2019. His work has also appeared through labels including Hooversound Recordings, Unknown to the Unknown and Studio Barnhus.

Beyond his own records, FaltyDL has remixed music by Seun Kuti, Mount Kimbie, the xx, Scuba, Photek and Anthony “Shake” Shakir. He opened for Radiohead at New York’s Roseland Ballroom in September 2011. In performance, he is known for using a MacBook onstage.
