Studio Barnhus
Studio Barnhus grew from a Stockholm DJ collective, record label and studio into a home for alternative dance music. Founded in 2009 by Axel Boman, Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist, it brought the founders' shared club sensibility into releases that move between house-rooted rhythms, off-centre electronics and melodic dance-floor music.
The label's circle includes work by its co-founder Axel Boman alongside artists such as Kornél Kovács, Silvestre, MOLØ, MLiR, Slackin Beats, Carli, Gold Panda and Matt Karmil. By 2018, Studio Barnhus was estimated to have released around sixty albums, 12-inches and seven-inches, reflecting an output that extended beyond a straightforward singles label.
Studio Barnhus received nominations for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2021 and for Electro/Dance of the Year at Sweden's Grammis gala that same year. Its identity remains tied to Stockholm, where the collective, label and studio were founded.
