Martijn Deijkers, known professionally as Martyn, is a Dutch producer and DJ whose work grew out of drum and bass and moved into dubstep and related bass-music forms. Born in Geldrop and associated early on with Eindhoven, he later based himself in Washington, D.C., in the United States. He is the son of Dutch former footballer Gerrie Deijkers.

Deijkers began DJing drum and bass in 1996. After hearing Kode9’s “Sine of the Dub,” he started folding dubstep influences into his sets and productions, a shift that helped define his early recorded output. His first 12-inch singles appeared in 2005, and they were noted for combining elements of techno and jungle rather than adhering to a single template. Working under the name Martyn, he became linked with a strand of club music that moved between bass pressure and rhythmic detail, drawing on UK-rooted styles while remaining open to techno’s structure and sound design.

His debut album, Great Lengths, was released in 2009. The record marked his transition from singles and club tracks into a full-length statement, consolidating the hybrid approach suggested by his earlier 12-inch releases. A year later, he was selected to compile Fabric 50, the 50th installment in London club Fabric’s long-running DJ mix series, placing him in a lineage of DJs known for curatorial range and for mapping connections across scenes.

Martyn followed with a second studio album, Ghost People, released in 2011 on the American label Brainfeeder. Issued by a label associated with forward-leaning electronic music, the album reflected his ongoing interest in cross-pollination between bass-driven club forms and broader electronic production techniques. Alongside his releases as Martyn, he has also used other names, including Gabe & Jude, M., and MARTYN3024.
