Tiga James Sontag, known as Tiga, won the 2007 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year with his debut album, Sexor. Born in Montréal on 18 September 1974, he works as a musician, DJ, record producer and music programmer, moving between electro, house, techno and dance-punk across a long-running solo career and several collaborative projects.

Sexor arrived in 2006, followed by Ciao! in 2009, No Fantasy Required in 2016 and Hotlife in 2026. Before and alongside those albums, Tiga issued a series of DJ compilations during the early 2000s, including American Gigolo, DJ-Kicks: Tiga and Mixed Emotions. His 2012 mix Tiga Non-Stop premiered the single “Plush” and included work by Kindness, Duke Dumont and Blawan.

His solo singles include “Sunglasses at Night,” made with Finnish producer Jori Hulkkonen and reaching number 25 on the UK Dance Chart, as well as “Pleasure From the Bass,” “You Gonna Want Me,” featuring Jake Shears, and “Shoes.” The latter was co-produced with Soulwax and Chilly Gonzales. Tiga has also worked with Soulwax, James Murphy, Chilly Gonzales, Jesper Dahlbäck and Matthew Dear, who collaborated with him on “Plush.”

Remixing has been another substantial part of his work. His remix credits include songs by The xx, LCD Soundsystem, The Kills, Cabaret Voltaire, Scissor Sisters, Peaches, Moby, Depeche Mode, Justice, Friendly Fires and Mylo. Beyond his own name, he is one half of ZZT with Zombie Nation, and has released music as The Dove, Rainer Werner Bassfinder with Jesper Dahlbäck, and TGV with Mateo Murphy.

Tiga’s work has extended into broadcasting and film. He hosted My Name Is Tiga on BBC Radio 6 Music and made his acting debut in the 2010 film Ivory Tower, which received a special mention at the Locarno International Film Festival. He also hosts the podcast Last Party On Earth; its first season, released in 2019, featured guests including Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Carl Cox.
