John Tejada
John Tejada is an Austrian-born American electronic music producer and composer whose work spans several strands of club-oriented electronic music, including techno and related minimal and microhouse styles. Born in Vienna, he began releasing music in 1994 and quickly developed a steady output as a producer, working across a range of formats and labels while also maintaining a long-running independent imprint.
Tejada’s catalog includes four albums released through Kompakt, a label closely associated with German minimal techno and tech-house, as well as additional releases for imprints such as Pokerflat, Cocoon, Plug Research, Seventh City, Playhouse, and Defected. Alongside these label relationships, he has also released music through Palette Recordings, his own label, which is described as having operated for 22 years. Palette Recordings has served as a recurring home for his productions and reflects a parallel track in his career: issuing music within a personal framework while continuing to place records with established international labels.
In addition to his releases under his own name, Tejada has used a number of aliases, including J Tejada, Autodidact, Lucid Dream, and Mr. Hazeltine. These alternate names appear across his discography and are part of a broader practice in electronic music of separating projects by context or approach. His work is also associated with float house, microhouse, minimal tech house, minimal techno, and techno, genres that emphasize rhythmic precision, detailed sound design, and subtle shifts in texture.
