Nicolas Jaar
Nicolás Jaar is an American composer and musician whose work spans solo records, film scores, collaborative projects and the alias Against All Logic. His notable solo albums include Space Is Only Noise (2011), Sirens (2016) and Cenizas (2020), each part of a catalogue that moves between electronic music, experimental composition and more intimate, song-based forms.
Born on 10 January 1990, Jaar also works as one half of Darkside. The group has released Psychic (2013), Spiral (2021) and Nothing (2025). Under the name Against All Logic, he has released two further albums, separating that work from his releases under his own name.
Jaar ran the label Clown & Sunset before folding it in 2013. He subsequently founded Other People, an imprint through which he has issued experimental recordings by artists including Lydia Lunch, Pierre Bastien, John Wall and Lucrecia Dalt. Alongside his recording work, Jaar has composed for cinema, scoring Jacques Audiard’s Dheepan, the 2015 Palme d’Or winner, and Pablo Larraín’s 2019 film Ema.
