Âme
Âme is a German house and techno duo made up of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann. The pair began making tracks in 2001 after meeting the previous year in Beyer’s record shop in Karlsruhe, where a shared interest in Chicago house and Detroit techno led them to start producing together.
Rooted in dance music traditions associated with those cities, Âme’s work sits within house and techno and is often linked with related strains such as microhouse, minimal techno, and minimal tech house. Their early connection in Karlsruhe and subsequent development as a production partnership established the foundation for a long-running collaboration centered on DJ culture and studio work.
As recording artists, Âme have released music through a range of labels. Their releases have included material for Ostgut Ton and Sonar Kollektiv, labels associated with German electronic music scenes that helped bring their productions to a wider audience. The duo are also co-founders of Innervisions, a label and platform closely associated with their activities as DJs and producers.
Based in Berlin, Âme are known for operating as a two-person unit rather than a rotating project, with Beyer and Wiedemann consistently credited as the members of the act. The name appears in multiple stylizations, including Âme, Ame, and related variants, reflecting common cataloging differences across releases and databases.
