Rhye
Rhye emerged with the understated early singles “Open” and “The Fall,” released online with little information about who was behind them. The mystery prompted speculation around the project before its lineup became clear: Rhye was originally formed by Canadian singer Mike Milosh and Danish instrumentalist Robin Hannibal.
The project’s debut album, Woman, arrived on March 4, 2013. In June that year, it was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. Rhye’s early recordings placed Milosh’s vocals at the center of arrangements shaped with Hannibal, establishing the project as a distinctive R&B collaboration.
By 2017, Hannibal was no longer a member of Rhye. The project subsequently became a collective led by Milosh, with its work centered around an associated live band. Rhye released its second album, Blood, on February 2, 2018; Milosh largely wrote, produced and performed the record himself. Rhye began an international tour in 2018 in support of Blood.
