Tribal House Artists

With Roger Sanchez among its current practitioners, tribal house shifts house music’s emphasis toward dense, hand-played and programmed percussion. A steady four-on-the-floor kick remains central, but the groove is often layered with drum patterns, chants, and rhythmic motifs that give tracks a more ceremonial, physical pull.

Compared with deep house, it generally puts less weight on plush chords and soulful atmosphere. It also differs from organic house and downtempo through its firmer club momentum: percussion drives the arrangement rather than simply colouring it. Kryder and Bedouin are among the current artists working in this rhythm-led corner of house.
