Timo Maas

Timo Maas is a German DJ, producer and remixer whose 2000 remix of Azzido Da Bass's “Dooms Night” helped launch his international career. Born in Bückeburg on July 27, 1969, Maas has worked across house, techno, breakbeat and progressive dance music while maintaining a parallel career as a club DJ and remix specialist.

Following “Dooms Night,” he collected earlier productions and remixes on the mix album Music for the Maases Volume 1, then released Connected for Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto imprint. His debut studio album, Loud, arrived in 2002. Produced with Martin Buttrich, the record featured appearances from Kelis, Neneh Cherry and Placebo singer Brian Molko, placing Maas's club-focused production alongside vocal collaborations.

Remixing has remained central to his work. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, Maas has collaborated with or remixed artists including Paul McCartney, Depeche Mode, Fatboy Slim, Garbage, Jamiroquai, Madonna, Moby, Moloko, Muse, Roger Sanchez and Tori Amos. In 2016, he and production partner James Teej received a Grammy nomination, Maas's second, for their work on Paul McCartney & Wings' “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five.”

Maas founded the Rockets & Ponies label in 2008, using it to release work by artists including Wolfgang Haffner, Ricardo Villalobos, Maetrik, Nightmares on Wax and Addison Groove. As a DJ, he has held a residency at Ibiza's DC10 for more than 15 years and has played venues including Ushuaïa, The End, Twilo, Tresor and Tunnel.
