salute
Felix Angyumanu Nyajo, known professionally as salute, is an Austrian DJ and record producer based in England. Signed to the English independent label Ninja Tune, salute is associated with the UK garage revival and has also used the names Felix Nyajo, Felix Angyumanu Nyajo, and Spirant.
Salute first drew attention in the early 2010s through remixes made during adolescence, around the age of 16. Among the best-known early examples are remixes of Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat” and Sam Smith’s “Money on My Mind.” These releases helped establish salute’s profile as a producer working with contemporary pop and R&B source material while operating within club-focused electronic styles.
Nyajo is originally from Aspern, Austria, and later became based in England. Under the salute name, their work has been connected to the UKG revival, a strand of electronic music that revisits and updates UK garage’s rhythmic and melodic vocabulary for modern dancefloors. Their current label affiliation with Ninja Tune places them within a roster known for electronic and leftfield dance music, aligning salute with a broader UK-centered ecosystem of producers and DJs.
