Special Request
Drawing on the unruly conventions of UK pirate radio, Special Request is Paul Woolford’s outlet for raw, wide-ranging club music. The Leeds-born producer launched the project in 2012, framing it as the “ruffage, the rowdy younger brother” to his work under his own name.
Special Request moves between jungle, breakbeat, UK garage, techno, drum and bass, dubstep and footwork, with an emphasis on the energy and stylistic collision of illegal radio broadcasts. The name also serves as a vinyl imprint for Woolford’s releases under the alias.
