Calvin Harris holds the Official Charts Company record for the most number-one singles in the United Kingdom during the 2010s. Born Adam Richard Wiles on 17 January 1984 in Dumfries, Scotland, he works as a DJ, record producer, singer and songwriter, and has also released music under the name Love Regenerator. His work spans electronic dance music, house, disco, synthpop, electro and pop, with credits that include producing, arranging, composing, mixing and playing instruments.

Harris introduced his own vocals on much of his early material. His 2007 debut album, I Created Disco, arrived after the European and Australian success of “Acceptable in the 80s” and “The Girls.” Its follow-up, Ready for the Weekend (2009), debuted at number one on the album charts in Scotland and the United Kingdom. Lead single “I’m Not Alone” became his first UK Singles Chart number one.

His international breakthrough came with 2012’s 18 Months, which topped the UK Albums Chart and became his first release to enter the US Billboard 200, reaching number 19. In 2013, nine songs from the album reached the UK top ten, surpassing Michael Jackson’s record of seven top-ten singles from one album. Harris followed it with Motion in 2014, which opened at number one in Scotland, number two in the UK and number five in the United States. That October, he became the first artist to place three songs in the top ten of Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart at the same time.

Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 (2017) reached number two in both the UK and US, and became Harris’s third consecutive number-one album on Billboard’s US Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Its sequel, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, followed in 2022 and achieved international commercial success. Harris has collaborated with Rihanna on “We Found Love.” He has received 23 Brit Award nominations, winning British Producer of the Year and British Single of the Year in 2019, alongside five Grammy nominations and a 2013 Grammy win for Best Music Video. His other recognition includes a 2013 Ivor Novello Award and Billboard Music Awards’ Top Dance/Electronic Artist honor in 2015. Forbes named him the world’s highest-paid DJ for six consecutive years from 2013 to 2018.
