Mount Kimbie

Mount Kimbie emerged from the UK dubstep scene with a sound that stretched beyond its usual club framework. Formed in 2008 by Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, the London group released the early EPs Maybes and Sketch on Glass to critical praise the following year. Their 2010 debut album, Crooks & Lovers, received further acclaim and was later named by DJ Mag as one of the defining albums of the decade.

Maker and Campos began the project after meeting at Southbank University in London. Campos, originally from St. Austell in Cornwall, and Maker, who is from Brighton and studied film, started making music together in a Peckham home studio. As Mount Kimbie, they moved through electronic music, indie rock and post-dubstep while working with collaborators including James Blake, King Krule and Micachu.

The group signed to Warp Records in 2012. Its second album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, arrived in 2013, followed by Love What Survives in September 2017. Drummer Marc Pell and keyboardist Andrea Balency-Béarn joined Mount Kimbie as live members in 2016, adding to the band's performance lineup as its records increasingly incorporated full-band elements.

Pell and Balency-Béarn became full members in 2023, ahead of Mount Kimbie's fourth album, The Sunset Violent. The group had previously released the double album MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning in November 2022. Mount Kimbie now consists of Maker, Campos, Pell and Balency-Béarn.
