Dominique Armani Jones (born December 3, 1994), better known as Lil Baby, has emerged as a global powerhouse in the Atlanta hip-hop scene. From his upbringing alongside fellow Atlanta rapper, Young Thug, to numerous arrests and facing poverty, Lil Baby has seen significant growth since he began rapping in 2017.

Raised by a single mother, Baby was born into poverty with two sisters and a brother, relying on food stamps and government assistance. In January 2012, he faced burglary charges. Later that August, he attempted to leave tenth grade but was arrested again for possession of dangerous drugs. Additional arrests for marijuana possession and theft led to a two-year jail term. During his incarceration, Pee and Coach K from Quality Control Music encouraged him to pursue rap.

His first mixtape, Perfect Timing, debuted on April 14, 2017, featuring fellow Atlanta artists Lil Yachty, frequent collaborator Gunna, and childhood friend, Young Thug. Lil Baby quickly gained fame, prompting him to release additional mixtapes, Harder Than Hard and Too Hard, within the same year.

His debut studio album, Harder Than Ever, reached number 3 on the US Billboard 200. The lead single, “Southside,” peaked at number 79 on the US Billboard Hot 100, while the second single, “Yes Indeed,” featuring Drake, reached number 6 on the charts.

After releasing Drip Harder, a collaborative album with Gunna, Lil Baby released his fourth mixtape, Street Gossip. His sophomore studio album, My Turn, released in February 2020, became the best-selling album in the United States. The deluxe version includes the viral hit “We Paid” featuring 42 Dugg.
