Mariah the Scientist
Mariah Amani Buckles, known by her stage name Mariah the Scientist, was born on October 27, 1997, in Atlanta, Georgia. She later moved to New York City to attend St. John’s University as a biology student, which inspired her moniker “the Scientist.” The 24-year-old R&B artist has consistently followed her passion. After creating a few songs as a Valentine's Day gift for her then-boyfriend in 2017, Mariah discovered her talent for singing and left school the following year after releasing her debut EP, "To Die For," on SoundCloud. She signed with RCA Records in early 2019 and released her solo album, "Master," and has been pursuing music ever since.
Her major-label debut, "Master," was highlighted by the emotional ballad “Beetlejuice,” a track so intimate that listeners feel privileged to hear the details she reveals. Mariah excels in the nuanced way she crafts this love story.
Since her debut, Mariah has honed her skills. Her second project, "RY RY WORLD," was finished two years before its official release, as she meticulously refined it for precision. The outcome is a project that is a poignant yet sentimental reflection on relationships and break-ups that have impacted Mariah deeply.
Her 2021 EP, "Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission," was a gift to her fans, featuring four previously unreleased tracks, with "Church" leading the charge. This was one of Mariah's earliest written songs, inspired by the feeling of new love. This project featured her most popular song to date, the TikTok hit "Spread Thin."
In 2023, Mariah released her third studio album, "To Be Eaten Alive," on October 27th, her birthday. This album showcases some of her strongest work yet, further refining Mariah’s sound in a more developed direction.
