Ice Spice

Ice Spice, born Isis Naija Gaston on January 1, 2000, broke through in late 2022 when “Munch (Feelin’ U)” became a viral hit on TikTok. Raised in the Bronx, New York City, the rapper and songwriter began making music while in college in 2020, after meeting producer RiotUSA. Her early releases drew from the Bronx drill sound, while her delivery and concise, hook-driven songs quickly made her one of rap’s most closely watched new artists.

After “Munch (Feelin’ U)” took off, Ice Spice signed with 10K Projects in a joint venture with Capitol Records. She followed it with “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood,” singles that introduced her debut EP, Like..?, released in 2023. The project reached number 15 on the Billboard 200 and included “Princess Diana,” later remixed with Nicki Minaj. That version became a Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single.

Her 2023 collaborations expanded her reach well beyond her initial drill audience. “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress, “Karma” with Taylor Swift, and “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj and Aqua all reached the Hot 100 top ten. Ice Spice was the only rapper to release four top-ten songs during 2023. In 2024, she released “Think U the Shit (Fart)” ahead of her debut studio album, Y2K!.

Ice Spice has received the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist, the People’s Choice Award for New Artist of the Year, and the Impact Award from the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. She has also worked in film, appearing in Highest 2 Lowest and The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, both released in 2025.
