Baauer

Baauer is the American producer and DJ Harry Bauer Rodrigues, best known for the double-platinum 2013 single “Harlem Shake.” Born April 30, 1989, in Philadelphia, he had been making varied dance music since the age of 13. Before adopting the Baauer name, he released music as Captain Harry, with one track receiving support on BBC Radio 1.

His early Baauer releases emerged around 2012 alongside the developing electronic trap sound associated with artists including TNGHT, RL Grime, Rustie and Flosstradamus. His work has moved between bass-heavy electronic music, grime-informed rhythms, hip-hop production and club-focused dance tracks. He has released music through LuckyMe, Ultra Records and Warp Records.

Beyond his own records, Baauer has produced songs for Just Blaze, Pusha T, Tom Morello and G-Dragon. His official remix work includes releases for Nero, the Prodigy, Flosstradamus, No Doubt, Missy Elliott, Disclosure, Kodak Black and Gorillaz. His music has also appeared in films including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Red Sparrow and Logan.

Baauer released his debut album, Aa, in 2016. His second album, Planet’s Mad, arrived on June 19, 2020, and was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
