
Nicky Romero
Nicky Romero, born Nick Rotteveel on 6 January 1989, is the Dutch DJ, record producer and remixer behind the viral hit “Toulouse.” Also recording as Monocule, he comes from Amerongen in Utrecht Province and works across house-rooted electronic music, including big room, progressive house and electro house.
Romero built his profile through productions and remixes that drew support from fellow DJs including Tiësto, Fedde le Grand, Sander van Doorn, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Armand van Helden, Avicii and Hardwell. His work with Avicii included “I Could Be the One,” while “Legacy,” featuring Krewella, followed as another high-profile release. He has also performed at major electronic music festivals including Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland.
Alongside releases under his main name, Romero uses the Monocule alias. His recorded output has been associated with labels including Protocol Recordings, Monstercat, Filth on Acid, STMPD RCRDS and PENTAPHONIA. He is currently ranked number 20 in DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll.
