Marshmello

Marshmello, the stage name of Christopher Comstock, built a global electronic-pop career behind a custom white helmet shaped like a marshmallow. Born May 19, 1992, the American DJ and producer first developed an audience as Dotcom, posting mashups, remixes and singles to SoundCloud from 2010. By early 2015, his online remixes under the Marshmello name had brought wider recognition.

His 2016 debut album, Joytime, introduced his commercial single “Keep It Mello.” That same year, “Alone,” released through Monstercat, reached number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received a quintuple-platinum certification from the RIAA. Marshmello's music centers on groove-driven electronic dance production, with prominent synths and bass, while his collaborations have regularly crossed into pop, R&B and hip-hop.

In 2017, he released “Chasing Colors,” “Twinbow” and “Moving On,” then teamed with Khalid for “Silence,” which earned platinum or multi-platinum certifications in eight countries. Later that year, “Wolves,” recorded with Selena Gomez, extended that run. His 2018 collaboration with Anne-Marie, “Friends,” was followed by Joytime II, supported by “Tell Me” and “Check This Out.”

“Happier,” his 2018 collaboration with Bastille, became his highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 single, reaching number two. In 2020, “Come & Go,” made with Juice Wrld for the rapper’s posthumous album Legends Never Die, matched that peak. “Silence,” “Wolves,” “Friends,” “Happier” and “Alone” each reached the Billboard Hot 100’s top 40 and received multi-platinum certifications in several countries.

Marshmello released his fourth album, Shockwave, in 2021; it earned him a Grammy nomination. In 2019, Forbes ranked him second on its list of the highest-paid DJs, reporting earnings of US$40 million. Although his public identity was initially unknown, Forbes confirmed in April 2017 that Marshmello was Comstock. Outside the project, he founded the pop-punk band Underbrook and serves as its lead vocalist.
