ILLENIUM
Nick Miller, known professionally as ILLENIUM, is an American DJ born in San Francisco. In 2012, he was inspired by a performance by Bassnectar at Red Rocks, leading him to say, "when I saw Bassnectar, I got Ableton the next day." He released his debut self-titled album in 2013.
Having started as a bedroom producer in 2013, ILLENIUM gained recognition through his early independent releases, including 2014's self-released "Risen" and his 2016 debut album, "Ashes." His next album, "Awake," released in September 2017, expanded his impact and included classic tracks like “Crawl Outta Love,” with Annika Wells, and “Fractures,” featuring Nevve. The album was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
While "Ashes" and "Awake" established ILLENIUM's sound, "Ascend," released in August 2019, marked his rise as a dance music crossover icon. His third full-length album and major-label debut, "Ascend," became one of the year's biggest electronic releases, amassing over 1 billion streams and reaching a Top 20 position on the Billboard 200 chart. Its lead single, “Take You Down,” reflects on his struggles with drug addiction and recovery. The album also featured the hit “Takeaway” with The Chainsmokers, reaching platinum status by 2020.
ILLENIUM's live performances transform his music into a vivid experience with live keyboards, drum pads, and cinematic visuals. He has headlined top festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza and completed international tours. In 2019, he embarked on his 42-date Ascend Tour, marking his most ambitious tour yet, selling out shows at Madison Square Garden and three nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Now as an independent artist, ILLENIUM has joined 12Tone Music, starting a new creative chapter with planned releases throughout 2020, promising to connect with fans and offer an escape as he has done before.
Entering the 2020s, ILLENIUM began laying the groundwork for his next album, "Fallen Embers," released in 2021, which prominently featured friends in bass music like Krewella, Excision, and Nurko. The album achieved significant acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Electronic Album. In 2023, ILLENIUM released a self-titled album featuring collaborations with pop stars like Avril Lavigne and JVKE, alongside bass music artists such as Wooli and Said The Sky.
