Bring Me The Horizon is a British alternative rock band from Sheffield, Yorkshire, often referred to as "BMTH" or simply "Bring Me." Formed in 2003, the group is comprised of lead vocalist Oliver “Oli” Sykes, lead guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, and drummer Matt Nicholls.

The band’s name was taken from a line by Captain Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, where he says, “Bring me that horizon.” In an interview with Spin, Oli discussed how the name aligns with his vision for the band:

At the end of the movie, Johnny Depp’s character says, “Bring me that horizon.” It was really inspiring for me while I was still living with my parents in Sheffield, England, when the movie released in 2003. Music, along with the idea of touring and exploring the world, was always intertwined for the band. It was a dream to experience the world through music, making that quote symbolic of our ambitions.

BMTH's sound has evolved significantly over the years. Initially, they were known for their fast blast beats and deathcore influences. However, with the inclusion of Jordan Fish in 2013's Sempiternal, the band transitioned to a more stadium-friendly alternative rock style. This change was intentional, aiming to embrace melody and attract a broader audience.

Oli explained the transition as a result of growing older, changing interests, and the desire to elevate the band to new heights:

We were initially just a metal band, performing decently and playing some gigs. Now, we're recognized as one of the biggest heavy rock bands globally. Our ambitions have expanded; it's no longer a mere fantasy—people are aware of us. The only limitation is ourselves.

Following Sempiternal, their album, That’s The Spirit, released two years later, was more inclined towards alternative rock, becoming their best-selling album with tracks like "Drown," "Happy Song," "Throne," and "Follow You."

On January 25th, 2019, their sixth studio album, amo, was released. The record incorporates experimental elements, mixing pop and electronic influences, along with trap undertones in tracks like "why you gotta kick me when i’m down."

During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Bring Me teased videos of their music production. On October 30, POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR was released, echoing the band’s older style. It included singles such as "Ludens," "Parasite Eve," "Obey," and "Teardrops."

After this album, the band began working on its successor, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, with singles like "DiE4u," “sTraNgeRs,” and “LosT.” Unfortunately, Jordan Fish (electronics, percussion, vocals) departed from the band on December 22nd, 2023.

The band’s logo, called the "Antivist Symbol," is a unicursal hexagram that has been used since the release of 2013’s Sempiternal, inspired by the song "Antivist." In Aleister Crowley’s Thelema, it signifies that everyone has one true purpose in life.
