Teddy Swims
Teddy Swims broke through internationally with “Lose Control,” the 2023 single that reached the top ten in several countries and topped the Billboard Hot 100 the following year. The song introduced a wider audience to the Georgia-born singer’s mix of R&B, soul, hip-hop and contemporary pop.
Born Jaten Collin Dimsdale on September 25, 1992, Swims is from Conyers, United States. He first built an audience in 2019 and 2020 by posting cover performances on YouTube, bringing his broad vocal approach to songs across several styles. His early recordings drew on soul and R&B alongside pop, rock and country influences, a range that remained central to his own material.
His third EP, Tough Love, arrived in 2022 and became his first release to enter the Billboard 200. In 2023, he released his debut studio album, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), through Warner Records. The album reached the top ten on the album charts in Australia and the Netherlands, with “Lose Control” serving as its key single.
MTV selected Swims as its Push Artist of February in 2024, following the expanding success of “Lose Control.”
