Lucky Daye

Lucky Daye, born David Debrandon Brown on September 25, 1985, is a New Orleans singer-songwriter whose R&B recordings move between soul, alternative R&B, and hip-hop-inflected production. Before launching his own recording career, he auditioned for the fourth season of American Idol in 2005 and advanced through several rounds. He also built songwriting credits with artists including Mary J. Blige, Ella Mai, Trey Songz, August Alsina, and Keke Palmer.

Brown signed with Keep Cool Records and RCA Records, introducing Lucky Daye with the 2018 EP I. Its single “Roll Some Mo,” released on October 26, 2018, later appeared on his debut album. A second EP, II, followed in 2019, ahead of his first studio album, Painted, released that May. The album's early run brought four Grammy nominations at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards: Best R&B Album for Painted, Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Real Games,” and Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance for “Roll Some Mo.”

In 2021, Lucky Daye released the EP Table for Two, which won Best Progressive R&B Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. His second studio album, Candydrip, arrived in 2022. The song “Over” gave him his first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2024 he released his third album, Algorithm; it was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, while its lead single “That’s You” won Best Traditional R&B Performance. In June 2026, Lucky Daye signed a new recording deal with Warner Records.
