Oliver Heldens
Olivier J. L. Heldens, better known as Oliver Heldens, is a Dutch DJ and electronic music producer from Rotterdam.
He emerged in the electronic music scene in 2013 after signing with Spinnin' Records, targeting the big room audience with tracks like “Stinger” and “Thumper” (with Jacob van Hage). Later, his late 2013 single “Gecko” caught the attention of fellow Dutch DJ Tiësto, who signed him to his label Musical Freedom, re-releasing the track with vocals from British singer Becky Hill on June 23, 2014, which reached the top of the UK Charts.
With his newfound popularity, Heldens launched a weekly podcast called Heldeep Radio in January 2014. The name, a combination of his name and the deep house genre, eventually became a brand, leading to the establishment of Heldeep Records the following year. This new label focuses on promoting bass-driven tech/deep/future house music.
With Heldeep Records' inception and its first single, “Renegade Mastah,” Oliver Heldens introduced HI-LO, his personal underground and bassline-driven project. This move paid off: By running his label, hosting his radio show, managing two projects, and performing over 200 gigs in one year, Oliver secured the 8th spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs in 2016.
