Kylie Ann Minogue, born 28 May 1968 in Melbourne, is an Australian singer, songwriter and actress whose recording career has produced more than 80 million sales worldwide, making her the highest-selling Australian-born female artist of all time. Often called the “Princess of Pop,” she has also been recognised as a fashion style icon. Her honours include two Grammy Awards, four Brit Awards, eighteen ARIA Music Awards and two Guinness World Records; in 2024, Time named her among its 100 most influential people in the world.

Minogue first became widely known as Charlene Mitchell in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, appearing from 1986 to 1988. She moved into music in the late 1980s, releasing four dance-pop studio albums through PWL and scoring major singles in Australia and the UK with “The Loco-Motion,” “I Should Be So Lucky,” “Especially for You,” “Hand on Your Heart” and “Better the Devil You Know.” Seeking greater creative control, she joined Deconstruction Records in 1993 and released Kylie Minogue in 1994 and Impossible Princess in 1997.

Her 1999 move to Parlophone brought a return to mainstream dance music. Light Years arrived in 2000 with the number-one singles “Spinning Around” and “On a Night Like This,” while 2001’s Fever became her best-selling album. Its lead single, “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” topped charts worldwide, sold more than five million units and ranked among the 2000s’ most successful singles. “In Your Eyes” and “Love at First Sight” were further hits. Subsequent releases moved through different pop and dance styles, yielding singles including “Slow,” “I Believe in You,” “2 Hearts” and “All the Lovers.”

In 2017, Minogue signed with BMG. The partnership produced a run of number-one albums in Australia and the UK: Golden (2018), Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection (2019), Disco (2020), Tension (2023) and Tension II (2024). She is the only female artist in the UK charts to have achieved a number-one single in four decades, and the first woman to top the UK album chart in five consecutive decades. Alongside music, her screen work includes The Delinquents, Street Fighter, Moulin Rouge!, Holy Motors and San Andreas; she also served as a judge on both The Voice UK and The Voice Australia in 2014. Minogue is an ARIA Hall of Fame inductee and holds honours from Australia, the United Kingdom and France, including appointments as an Officer of the Order of Australia and an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
