Jim-E Stack

Jim-E Stack is the professional name of James Harmon Stack, an American songwriter, record producer and DJ whose work moves between club-focused electronics, hip-hop-informed production and pop songwriting. Born in San Francisco on January 21, 1992, he is based in Los Angeles.

Stack began playing drums in his youth and started making hip-hop beats in 2008. His early production drew on U.K. grime and Baltimore club, while his own dance tracks have paired heavy bass and hard-edged drum patterns with chopped R&B vocal samples and wistful melodic ideas. His releases work across electronic, house, indietronica and downtempo forms without separating his solo work from his collaborative production practice.

As a solo artist, Jim-E Stack has released music featuring Bon Iver, Empress Of, Charli XCX, Lucky Daye, Ant Clemons, Jana Hunter of Lower Dens and the Range. He has also built an extensive songwriting and production catalogue with artists including Dominic Fike, Kacy Hill, Octavian, Joji, Caroline Polachek, Haim, Diplo, Empress Of and Lorde. His remix work includes tracks by Wet, Anna of the North, Rostam, Active Child and Lower Dens.
