Sam Gellaitry

Growing up far from major electronic music centers such as LA, Glasgow, and London, Sam Gellaitry, now 24, hails from Stirling – a historic town in central Scotland known for its medieval heritage and stunning vistas. In this environment, Sam was introduced to happy hardcore by his older brother – a form of hard dance music that emerged from the UK's and Europe's breakbeat and rave scenes – which sparked his interest and entry into music production. Sam perceives the world through vivid color palettes; C-minor appears as purple, C-sharp minor as cool blue, and nighttime is best represented by dark F-minor reds. His music represents a journey through his experiences, circumstances, and environment, expressed through his impressive synesthesia-driven understanding of musical tones. His breakthrough track – the 2014 single “Powder” – showcased his ability to blend hip-hop and electronica, navigating smoothly between maximalism and minimalism. Sam's first major project, ‘Escapism,’ was released in 2015, followed by ‘Escapism II’ (2016) and ‘Escapism III’ (2017). This series presented a young producer exploring a rich array of sounds and earned recognition from fellow artists in the electronic music scene, including Kaytranada and Flume. Ultimately, this phase of Sam's career circles back to the core reason for his music-making: crafting vibrant music as a means of respite, release, and joy.
